In brief

A retail floor needs to support the display concept and day-to-day operation. Assess the substrate, approve a physical finish sample and agree protection and opening dates before specifying Puur PSR. This is a design guide, not an account of a named completed project.

Start with how the showroom will be used

Record customer routes, entrances, display loads, deliveries and cleaning arrangements. The visual brief should include how the concrete-style finish relates to products, lighting and joinery.

Puur PSR is a cementitious overlay, typically installed at 6mm, with a power-floated appearance. Its thin build-up is useful to consider in a fit-out, but suitability needs confirming against the supporting floor and intended use.

Survey the existing substrate before pricing

Identify floor materials, repairs, moisture, joints and transitions. The PSR specification describes preparation and priming requirements; covering an existing surface is not permission to ignore defects.

Send the installer drawings and photographs along with the area. Agree preparation and any excluded remedial work so competing quotations describe the same job.

Approve colour under the actual lighting

PSR can be specified in RAL Classic or NCS colours. Shortlist a colour in the Puur Visualiser, then assess a physical sample with the proposed lighting and display materials.

Expect natural variation in a hand-finished cementitious surface. Agree the finish, sheen and sample approval process rather than asking a photograph or screen colour to define the entire floor.

Agree slip requirements and the trading programme

Check that the proposed finish and testing suit entrances and areas exposed to spills. Published dry and wet slip ratings need interpreting for the intended environment.

Plan preparation, installation, sealing, protection and handover as separate requirements. Do not assume a weekend installation or an uninterrupted trading schedule without a project-specific agreement.

Build a brief the installer can deliver

Request the current specification, approved sample and written programme. Include responsibilities for moving displays, access, protection and aftercare. Puur can advise on the finish once these project details are available.
