In brief

PSR can work with underfloor heating, subject to approval of your system and complete floor build-up. The typical 6mm overlay is the finish. It does not replace the screed or the heating design.

Can a polished concrete overlay work with underfloor heating?

Our FAQs describe compatibility with underfloor heating. Before choosing PSR, check your particular heating system, supporting floor and installation conditions with us. The complete construction matters.

A thin overlay alone cannot tell you the heat output, warm-up time or energy saving. Those depend on the heating design, insulation and the whole floor construction.

What floor build-up needs checking?

Send us the heating layout and full floor construction: insulation, screed or boards, plus moisture information. Agree the preparation and required heating commissioning before we install the overlay.

PSR is typically 6mm thick. Small, but still worth measuring. Check doors, kitchen plinths, thresholds and adjoining finishes against the complete build-up.

How should heating and movement be managed?

Get written instructions for commissioning, installation conditions and restarting the heating. Follow both the heating supplier’s and flooring installer’s requirements. An internet temperature schedule is no substitute.

Agree joints and transitions before installation. Our technical documents note possible hairline cracks and natural variation. A continuous-looking floor is not a guarantee against movement underneath.

How do you choose a colour for open-plan rooms?

Look at a real sample in daylight and with the evening lights on. Put it beside the cabinetry, timber and wall finishes. Use the Visualiser for the shortlist, not the final colour approval.

We keep standard-colour samples in stock. Want another RAL or NCS colour? We can make a project sample for a small charge, credited against a confirmed order.

What should you ask before booking installation?

Agree the build-up, substrate and heating requirements, preparation, finish and sealer. Get the protection plan and care instructions, and check when furniture, cleaning and everyday use can begin.

Send us the drawings, areas and heating specification. We’ll help you work through your project. This guide is about planning a floor, not a case study or a promise of heating performance.
